Generally speaking, he was a member of the Polonized Lithuanian yeomanry who lived in the Liauda River Valley in Lithuania. He came to the USA after successfully escaping impressed service in the Czar’s army prior to the outbreak of WWI. He arrived on May 24, 1913. While many say that the outbreak was sudden, Wacław always said that everyone knew that war was likely. His family had already lost older brother Antony in the Czar’s army (no details of his fate known), and his father Jan was very eager not to lose another son.

May 24, 1913 Eisenach Manifest, Bremen, Germany to Baltimore, MD, USA

If you are interested in learning more about our family, here are some possible starting points:

Wacław Jagiełłowicz biography page

Anna Noviskaite / Jagieleviciene / Jagiella biography page

This is a web site based on genealogy as it relates to Wacław Jagiełłowicz, who emigrated to the USA from Lithuania.
